Betty L. Jones, PhD, received her doctorate from the University of Washington. Prior to becoming a licensed psychologist, she served as an educational consultant at Seattle Children's, a mainstreaming coordinator with a large local school district, and a social worker. She has taught students with intellectual and learning disabilities and their teachers and has supervised instructors in a local psychiatric facility.
Following ten years with Seattle Children's and satellite clinics, Dr. Jones established a private practice. Since 1991, she has offered comprehensive evaluations for children and adolescents. Referrals through Seattle and Eastside pediatricians, family practitioners, psychiatrists, and neurologists have primarily been for patients with suspected learning or attentional disorders. The physicians' expectations are that the test battery will identify the nature and the extent of the deficits, information which will be considered in program planning. School district referrals are usually indicated when traditional intellectual and academic data yield insufficient information to determine the unique needs of the students. However, most of Dr. Jones' referrals have been through the families of those previously served.
